Hawn State Park & Friends

We scheduled one last camping trip with friends before the arrival of the baby. We had five families, for a total of 11 children. Ian was the oldest! Needless to say, we were well recognized in the camp grounds.

Chad, Eric, Krystal, Tim, Me (8mo. preggo) & Susy.
It was in the high 90s one day, so we cooled off by playing in the creek.

Aubrey, Chad & Eric.

Ava squirting a water gun.

The kids set all their lawn chairs up along the end of the driveway and pretended they were watching a parade. This entertained them for hours. Other campers got a kick out of our line of picnic tables in the background.

They ate their meals in the chairs, waved at all the passerbys, and....

rode their bikes back and forth along the road throwing out pretend candy.

We had a sausage and shrimp boil for dinner.

We cooked it all in one pot over the fire, dumped it onto the table, and ate with our hands.

It was really yummo!

Smores Time!

Ava loved the marshmallows. No, she didn't scewer her nose, even though the picture makes it look that way.

Last Day of First Grade

First grade is officially completed! The final day was Thursday, June 3. Ian is now going to be a second grader. Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Kadlec. This was a very big year of growth for Ian. He acheived a "most improved" certificate for his reading ability, and a "certificate of excellence" for Art.

Ian had a very big adjustment when he transferred to Kennard last fall. A lot more scholastically was expected of him and he had a hard time with the load now and then. The majority of his class was also boys which only added more distractions. He and Mrs. Kadlec used a daily high five system to rate his behavior: High Five (great), Five with a slide (good, but almost lost it), hand shake (not so good) and wave (bad). Mrs. Kadlec said he got a High Ten for the year!
