Scouts & Ian

Ian and his Daddy have joined Boy Scouts this year, and they are really enjoying it! Ian successfully completed all the Bobcat requirements last fall to become a Tiger cub. They've been working on fullfilling all the new requirements the past few months and last weekend he was awarded his Tiger cub badge as well. He's quite proud of his outfit and insists on wearing every single piece of it!

Here he is doing a creative project last weekend. Look at all those beads on the paw badge! He's very close to having it filled now.

Here we are on a "go see it" field trip. We had a behind-the-scenes tour of channel 9. Ava loved all the Sesame Street things we saw.

Here we are on one of the Channel 9 tv sets. The tour leader informed us that the camera cost more than most of our houses.....then why are we allowing first grade boys so close?

Another "go see it" trip to the firehouse.

Ian's new Tiger Cub badge and lapel pins, which he was awarded last weekend at the Blue & Gold Banquet. Way to go Ian!

Next up is the pinewood derby the first weekend of March. It's all they can talk about!

Funny story I have to put down for the archives. Ian and I go round and round about his uniform. The main reason why is because I usually wait until the day before a meeting to update his uniform with any new badges. This drives Ian crazy! Last time he informed me that I didn't even need to sew them on, and that they have this stuff on the back which gets sticky when you put the iron on it! It makes me chuckle for I cannot tell you how many times I dug my girl scout sash and badges out of my mother's sewing box the night before a meeting and angrily begged that she take care of it. She of course always would use the opportunity to inform me that I needed to learn to sew them on myself. Then she'd try to have some teaching moment with me where we'd work on it together! Augh! See what a nice mom I am Ian! Besides, now you'll only have to use the iron! ;)
